Allesley Children's Theatre (A.C.T.)
Allesley has a budding youth theatre group that has been meeting for the past two years in Allesley, Coventry. It provides children between the ages of 5 and 16 with experience of a youth theatre and drama skills. The sessions are run every Saturday during term time. Each age group has a one hour session each week. They have one main performance in a professional theatre a year plus small informal performance in their rehearsal venue throughout the year.

The Saints Amateur Dramatic Society
The Saints Amateur Dramatic Society provides the opportunity for budding actors to "tread the boards" and gain experience in all aspects of theatre giving varied and extended forms of entertainment. New members over 16 are always welcome for back stage, front of house roles as well as acting, and there is a nominal membership fee. The Saints do three productions a year in February, May and October at Allesley Village Hall. Rehearsals are held every Monday and Thursday at 7.30pm, at Allesley Village Hall. A club night is held on the last Thursday in the month for a drink and chat - anyone's welcome. The Society also organises social and fundraising activities.

Belgrade Youth Theatre
The aim of the Belgrade Youth Theatre is to introduce young people to theatre. It offers a city centre based focus for youth centred creative work, developing creative, technical and interpersonal skills and the opportunity to devise and organise their own work as well as doing scripted work. Anyone aged between 7 to18 is welcome to join for which there is a yearly membership fee of £15. Monthly group workshops are £2.50 extra and meet once a month on a Wednesday evening. Weekly workshops are £2 extra. Belgrade Youth Theatre is affiliated to the National Association of Youth Theatres.

Cofa's Fayre Players
Encourage and perform new and unpublished plays by writers resident in Coventry and Warwickshire. It holds workshops, public readings and fully rehearsed enactments. Some of the very successful plays have also been aired in the Birmingham Fringe Festival and Birmingham Art Fest. " Rough Justice" was previewed and "Hunting" performed in the Coventry Positive Images Multi-Cultural Festivals.

Criterion Theatre Company Ltd
The Criterion puts on theatrical productions for the whole community as well as hosting productions by other companies. It is run by volunteers. Anyone interested in the work is welcome to join - there is a membership fee. The Theatre also runs a drama group in conjunction with the Coventry Centre for Performing Arts. This is held on Saturday mornings from 9.15-12.30pm. (It is not specifically a Youth Section, however, children/young adults attend). The Criterion is affiliated to the Little Theatre Guild of Great Britain (secretary, Ann Matey, Tel 0892 34710). The theatre is always looking for volunteers.

Genesis Theatre Schools for Children
Genesis Theatre Schools for Children teaches singing, dance and drama to children aged 5 to 17 years, and works towards performing shows every few terms. Sessions are held at Tile Hill Wood School, Tile Hill Lane, Coventry every Saturday afternoon during school term times from 2.30pm to 5.30pm. Fee £16.50 per Saturday (offering LAMDA qualifications, examinations on regular Saturday School). Free trial offered to all at any time during term.

Shysters Theatre Company
The Shysters are a company of actors with learning disabilities, and a team of theatre practitioners who together create new plays through a devising process. The basic brief of the company has been to explore ways of creating theatre in response to the skills and strengths of the individual performers. The company is developing links with many other artists and organisations regionally, nationally and internationally. Working in partnership with Open Theatre Company, the Shysters are playing a major role in the development of performing arts work involving people with learning disabilities throughout the West Midlands region. This is through a range of activities including artist training sessions, workshops, residencies and collaborative projects. The Shysters are keen to involve local people with learning disabilities in theatre work, particularly to train those interested in developing their professional skills. The Company meets regularly (enquire for details) at the AEU Building, Corporation Street. They also offer regular workshops at a variety of venues throughout the region.
