The farm shop has been trading for almost two decades, and the owner Philip Tuckey's family history spans over 400 years involvement in farming and butchery. What better assurance!
For many years, Philip has strongly believed that good animal welfare leads to quality meats and has been retailing his own grass reared beef for over 22 years. This was an innovative action at the time, ahead of the BSE food scare and the supermarkets marketing themselves as concerned in British farming.

We are accredited with the Traditional Breeds Meat Marketing Company (established by the Rare Breeds Survival Trust) which provides us with a source of British Breeds of livestock not commonly available with full traceability and each with distinct eating qualities. In particular, our pork comes from breeds such as Tamworth, Large Black and Gloucester Old Spot. It is full of flavour and has great crackling, unlike the lean and less flavoursome commercial breeds. This meat is largely sourced from local farms. Onc exception to local sourcing of stock is between September and April we stock North Ronaldsay Mutton. This unusual breed lives on the shores of the northern most Orkney Isles and exists on a diet of seaweed. The animals are slaughtered in Scotland and the carcasses are delivered to us through a wider delivery service.
As a skilled butcher, Philip ensures all meat prepared to the highest standard and of the utmost quality. If you have any questions regarding the meats on offer, or any special requirements then we would be delighted to discuss this with you.
